The Chestnut Centre Otter Haven

As some of you may know from Twitter, I had a little visit to The Chestnut Centre, just outside Chapel-en-le-Frith in North Derbyshire on Good Friday. Since this lovely little conservation park is dedicated to otters (and owls, polecats, deer, foxes, badgers etc) I thought I should share the experience and put up some ottery pictures that I took.

The park is set in lovely rolling countryside and is a great place to visit if you fancy a walk in the fresh air or, like me, just wanted to see some otters. I wasn’t disappointed! Saw plenty of otters, even though I visited in the morning when lots of them were asleep in their huts. I’ll probably go back in the afternoon sometime to see the ones that I missed due to them being lazy…

You can check out the Chestnut Centre on their website and follow them on Twitter. If you get the chance, do go and pay them a visit, they do great work in the conservation of these lovely beasts and have a great ottery gift shop too! (I might have bought an otter coaster for the office…).

So check out the photos below and leave me a comment if you like them. Sorry the images are far from professional, but they were taken on my phone and otters are quite unhelpful in posing for photographs.

Finally I took a little video of the baby otters who were feverishly buzzing around making squeaky noises…
